Dental prosthesis

The installation of a dental prosthesis makes it possible to compensate for the absence of one or more teeth. It can be put in place following an extraction for example.
This method avoids many problems of aesthetic order but also in terms of chewing and the position of the teeth.

Available solutions

Your dentist has various solutions for treating an existing tooth or replacing a missing tooth:

The crown: replacing a tooth while keeping the root of it
The bridge: replacing one or more teeth by fixing the prosthesis to neighboring teeth
Onlay: reconstitution of the damaged area by gluing
The facet: improvement of the esthetic aspect of the visible teeth by the application of a “facet” on this one
The dental apparatus: partial or complete, this type of apparatus aims at the replacement of several teeth

Materials Ceramic

Some prostheses may consist solely of ceramic. To ensure a good maintenance while keeping the aesthetic side, two different ceramics are used. A high hardness for the base, which surrounds the tooth, and an aesthetic ceramic placed on the first. As a result, the metal base of the metal-ceramic crowns is replaced by a zirconia or alumina framework.
Ceramics have many aesthetic benefits, such as the natural effect that is given to the tooth by its color. This material is also very resistant. Completely supported by the body, it is more and more used in dental prosthesis.
